A lively journey begins at Springlet,
the source of peaceful stream, and ends far away in the sea
on a desert island. A simple story and concept has been expertly
chosen in order to help children learn Lithuanian. A boy or
girl, together with a dog, float on a raft and meet several
obstacles. To overcome them the user must successfully complete
a series of well proven game concepts: catching letters in a
basket, linking words together, solving a crossword and finding
passwords.
As the tasks grow more difficult, more skills are needed to
advance. While completing a language task, the user learns basic
computer operations such as controlling the mouse, navigating
the keyboard and invoking simple commands. To assist, the child
receives advice from a helpful stork named Redbeak.
The main design principle of "Springlet" is the integration
of language training and computer skills, while also utilising
high-calibre illustration and animation. It was designed in
conjunction with leading specialists in the fields of child
pedagogy, child psychology and visual art. |
